"Lets go, Desyful." Laevaetion said as she pulled the small blade from Desyful's neck. She put the blade in her pocket and she headed for the door, Desyful at her heels as always. When the two got outside, Desyful scurried up near Kyleigh and Daray, "You guys alright? You look beat."

Daray nodded weakly. "Aye, I think we'll be fine," he said. He looked at his arm and sighed. "As fine as I'll ever be, at any rate." Kyleigh groaned, rubbing her head. "Oh yeah... I still have to fix you up, huh? I'll get to that a little later. So Dad, where've you been staying these last few weeks? Why are you so... beat up?"
Daray looked at the ground. "I've been stayin' nowhere. I sleep where ever I drop. I eat whatever I kin find. And ye see..." He hesitated. "Lucifer's a wee bit ticked off at me... eheh..." Kyleigh's eyes widened. "Aiiie?! You idiot! You don't piss off Lucifer! He! Ah, you IDIOT!" Daray flinched slightly. Kyleigh was far from over. "Why did you defy him? What did you do to make him angry? I want answers, Dad!" She hissed.
Daray made a loud 'gulping' sound and began his explanation. "Well, ye see... I was sent to observe Mailiku as one o' my missions. Well, at first, it was all good. But then... er..." He made a gesture towards Laevaetion. Kyleigh seemed to understand because she nodded. He continued. "Anywho, I asked for an extension on the mission so I could 'gather more information'. I was granted this time... though... I just wanted more time with Laevaetion," he explained nervously. "When Lucifer found out, he was very angry. He was gonna demote me an' lock me up. But I decided not t' go. Every since I made that decision, demons 'ave been on my ail day an' night. My powers are weakening each day... I think I may be dyin'," he said, finishing with a drawn out sigh.

Laevaetion listened into the whole explaination. She blinked, "Wai--what? Your dying?" Her glance shifted from the ground to Daray, "Why would you come up with that?"

Daray sighed softly. "Not only is my physical strength fadin', but I can feel my spiritual strength also leavin' me. I'll be reduced t' nothing but a hollow shell in a matter of months now." Kyleigh stared vacantly at her 'father'. "But..." she leaned forward as if about to hug him but slapped him instead. "You moron! How could you make your life like this for some... hussy!" She hissed. Daray received the slap; it stung but it seemed like he didn't feel it.

"Hussy?!" Laevaetion yelled out in anger. She was about to continue, but stopped herself. Kyleigh had a point. No one should have to go through what Daray was going through.

Daray growled, standing up. "Ye wanna know WHY?" He asked. "Ye wanna know WHY I gave up everythin' I had just t' be with Laevaetion? Well I'll tell ye! I LOVE Laevaetion! Do ye know how long it 'as been since I've felt that? Forever! If ye want to question my actions, go ahead! But I have no regrets!" Kyleigh blinked, surprised by Daray's sudden outburst. "Dad... I'm sorry... I just don't want you to go... I was angry and confused..." Her eyes were now clouded with tears.

Laevaetion felt a surge of guilt run through her. If she hadn't been around, then no one would be in the condition they were in now. She let out a silent sigh as she looked at the ground; lost for words. "Hey...don't cry." Desyful said in a soft tone as she knelt down near Kyleigh.

Daray could practically feel the guilt radiating from Laevaetion. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't feel bad, Laevaetion. As I said before: I have no regrets. I'm glad I met ye; yer a good person." Kyleigh glanced at Desyful and brushed her eyes with her sleeve.
"It's just that... he's been the only one who ever cared for me. I never met my parents; I don't even know where I'm from!"

"It's kinda hard not to feel bad." Laevaetion said in a quiet tone, despite the fact that Daray said he had no regrets, "But I can't be such a good person if my presence made everything turn out like this." Desyful let out a short, small whimper as her antenna drooped behind her head, "Awww...I'm sorry to hear that."

Daray sighed deeply. "Look, don't be to hard on yerself. I brought this upon myself. Ye don' have t' worry about what happens to me, Laevaetion..." He trailed off and briefly glanced at Laevaetion's eyes. He coughed nervously and looked at the ground. Memories of the pond, the roses... everything surged into his mind. The intimacy they had shared; he wanted it again. It felt as though he lost control of his body; his arm gently wrapped around Laevaetion's waist and pulled her closer. And he kissed her. His eyes were closed for approximately two seconds, but they flew open when he realized what was happening. He hastily let go of Laevaetion and gently pushed her away. He shuffled back a few large steps, glancing down sheepishly at Kyleigh, who was slack jawed and wide eyed.
Daray threw up his arms in defense as though he knew he would be punished beyond all his worse nightmares. "Laevaetion! I'm so sorry!"

Laevaetion's eyes were widdened, giving off the impression that she was shocked. Her eyes soon narrowed, "What the hell is your problem?!" She yelled out as her hands were in tight fists and arms straight, "Do you have no respect or self-restraint?!" She pointed a clawed finger at Daray, "Words are just words. I don't believe your sorry at all." Desyful was wide-eyed.

Daray flinched and took another step back. He was pretty much speechless at the moment. The Lupe crumbled to the ground and remained their; limp as a rag-doll. Kyleigh blinked, jolting back to life. "He didn't mean anything, you know! He probably doesn't know what self-restraint is or anything like that! Are you afraid of a relationship, Laevaetion? Or do you just not want to lose your JOB?" she hissed, yanking Daray up roughly. "You should consider yourself lucky he even has feelings for you! This is the first time I've seen him obsess about a woman like this! Look inside yourself, Laevaetion. What Daray just did... was it really that evil? You must realize he has the IQ of a two year old romantically. He doesn't know right from wrong when it comes to these things. This isn't some high-school crush we're talking about, either."
Kyleigh lifted Daray over her shoulder. "Think about what I told you, Laevaetion. You look like a smart woman." With a push of her glasses, she turned away and began to walk.

Despite Laevaetion's anger, she didn't say anything negative, not to mention anything at all. She let out a quiet mix of a growl and a sigh as she sat down on her knees on the ground. "Me thinks you should've been nicer." Desyful's voice said as she was already kneeling on the ground. "Maybe..." Laevaetion muttered as she drew random lines on the ground with her black claw.

As the sun set, the smoke was almost completely cleared. Kyleigh had cared Daray to the house that they had encountered Obsidian. He had been out cold since the incident with Laevaetion; the only things that signified life were the steady rising and falling of his chest, and his incoherent mumbling. Kyleigh worriedly placed a hand on Daray's forehead. It seemed to be a normal temperature. She carefully lifted his left eyelid and yelped, forgetting he was absent of pupils. As soon her short scream was released, Daray's eyes fluttered open.
"Lae...Laevaetion?" Daray asked. A puzzled expression crossed Kyleigh's face. "No dad... It's me: Kyleigh." Daray sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes. "Aye... it's ye..." He said slowly. "I feel so stupid, Kyleigh. She was completely right t' be angry. I just couldn' control mysel'..." He explained. Kyleigh nodded sympathetically and patted Daray's shoulder. "It's all right, Daray. I'm sure she'll forgive you. She's your friend."
"Aye... friend..." There was a hint of disappointment in Daray's voice. Kyleigh frowned. "What is it, Dad?" Daray glanced at Kyleigh. "It's just that... I don't think she'll ever want me the way I want her. She'll probably end up with a man who didn' end up like me. Someone like Mailiku or Dawnteh..." Kyleigh sighed. "Dad, don't be that way... You're scaring me."
