"Christ..."
Daray's vacant eyes traveled amongst the rubble that was once Kiko Lake. This was the aftermath of Borovan's death. Just one minute before, this place was in perfect condition. The citizens of the small town bustled about; they were all dead now. Daray sighed, sitting down on a charred log. Luckily, he had survived; he only had to pay with a broken left arm. He realized his power had almost been cut in half and still weakening.
He no longer had the strength to demolish whole cities; he couldn't even fly in his current state. He felt hopeless. He was trapped in a hellish, dismal pit of depression. There was really nothing to look forward to anymore. Lucifer's demons were constantly trying to hunt him down and he was defenseless.
He had left Mailiku not too long ago; he feared he would only be a burden. That meant he no longer saw Laevaetion. Peh. Like she cared; after that night, they had not seen each other much, anyway. Like nothing had happened.
Daray lay down and looked into the sky; a thick blanket of smoke covered the sun and tendrils of it still curled into the sky.
He would get these strange dreams periodically. He woke up in his own, cold sweat. They haunted him; his conscious had returned to him. The lives he had taken plagued him endlessly.
He no longer had any pride. He was a broken man. His fur was matted on his bones; he was extremely thin due to starvation. He felt the will to do bad shrink with each day.
"Daray. How the mighty have fallen."
At this new voice, Daray quickly sat up to see a Shoyru. His stomach lurched with fear. The crimson Shoyru he had tormented for so long was standing right before him, armed.
He weakly opened his mouth. "Tezarohk..." He croaked.
His jaw was struck by Tear's fist, causing him to fall off the log.
Tear growled. "My name is Tear, you bastard. Say it."
Daray looked away. "Tear..."
Tear nodded with satisfaction and kicked Daray. "Very good. How does it feel to be hit while you're down? To lose virtually everything you cared about?"
Daray snarled half-heartedly, earning himself a hard kick to the face.
Tear grasped Daray's collar and lifted him up. "It hurts, doesn't it?"
Daray nodded weakly, allowing his body to hang limply. "Tear... kill me now..." He whispered hoarsely. Tear laughed coldly and threw Daray a few feet away from him.
"Why? So it'll end? No. I'll let you live through what I did. You didn't let me die, did you?" He asked, kicking Daray one last time before turning away. When he looked down, he saw Daray shaking.
Sobbing.
