-giggles- xD In English, we were starting our Poetry Analysis assignment.
My (evil incarnate) English teacher from last year told us to always look for the much deeper and intricate meanings in poetry.
So I've "trained" my mind to think extravagantly, eh?
So I'm there with my partner, Lynsey, reading through the poem we're analyzing, and we come to the conclusion that it's about this guy's trip to heaven. Sounds deep and meaningful enough to us. Especially with the title "High Flight"... or something like that. Can't remember exactly.
Sara goes up to the English teacher to get a hint on what the poem is about. Mrs. Jackson says that there's an actual, tangible event happening in the poem.
So, me and Lynsey elaborate on it a bit. We say there was an accident (a plane crash) and the dude goes to heaven. :3 Apparently that was wrong.
Eventually, I get really frusterated. I thought that we weren't going deep enough into this poem. That 'reading between the lines' wasn't quite enough.
So I get all fed up and shout, "GAH! >.< I hate reading inbetween the lines BETWEEN THE LINES."
The English teacher hears me, laughs, and comes over and points out the word 'wings'. She asks what has wings. I say "Birds... angels... planes... other... uh, things."
She points to 'craft' a little farther down.
Sara goes "Like, aircraft, then?"
And Lynsey and me are like, yay! 'Cause we think we got it right, right?
... I can't remember how we managed to get the answer from her, but we found out near the end of class that the poem was about an airplane RIDE.
OH HELL. >o THAT'S REALLY DEEP. LIKE, STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART.
Whatever happened to "deeper meaning in poetry"? @_@ Then I remembered that my English teacher last year was an evil bitch and was probably WRONG about thinking too deeply about these things! >o ARGH.
In conclusion, Kittie thinks too much. :3
As well as this entertaining English assignment, I had a HILARIOUS math class. :3 If ye wish to know about it, simply ask.
