My titles are gay.
“No important business this week. I haven’t seen any signs of petpet cruelty or…anything lately. As if everyone was asleep…” I said, over looking a rectangular oak table with different pets sitting around it. I rested my right black hoof on the table and put the other on my waist, “Does anyone know of anything?” Silence and head shakes came from the people. “Its nice to know that everything’s fine, but we’ll be pretty useless if we’re doing nothing.” I said, tucking a strand of light purple-pink hair behind my kau ear. My pink eyes looked through a set of glasses. Stripes went over my rainbow kau body in random places. A light blue tank top ended about 2 inches above my purple flares which covered my hooves. A white piece of cape-like fabric came from the front of my shirt and went all around the back, making it look like a cape came from the bottom of my shirt and just went past my knees, the white fabric having a light purple trimming. A golden necklace around my neck had a small cowbell at the end. I was quite young, too. Only 13 years old. I flopped back into my chair at the end of the table and kicked my feet up, folding my arms, “Don’t know what to do now…there’s usually too much to do.” “We could always stop by the adoption center and help out or something…” Suggested an orange acara a few seats away.
I let out a sigh, “The new group in town is already there.” I put my hooves of the table and slammed a fist down angrily, making everyone jump, “I hate that other group! They’re doing this for fame and power over society! They don’t care about anybody but themselves!”
“That rumor was true, Tryxii?” Asked a white lupe in a timid voice.
“Very much so. I had a conversation with they’re head. They TOLD me.” I answered, my fist still on the table. I sighed as I made a brushing motion, “Meeting over. There isn’t much to say. Neopia is being taken care of.” I stood up and shoved my hooves in my pockets and walked out of the room, soon leaving the building. I looked up at the building. It was very taken care of, the bricks still the same red they were on the day it was built which was a few years ago. A rainbow sign hung over the entrance way, saying ‘Peace, Love, and Freedom.’ I let out a sigh as I walked down the street of Neopia central carelessly as I headed to where ever my feet took me.
I ended up walking until the sun was slowly setting, casting an orange glow over Neopia. Stores were closing, parents were calling they’re children in, and workers were being welcomed home. I used to be welcomed home at one time, but not any longer. It was only yelling, cursing, and barking orders. My train of thought made a sudden stop as I noticed a young Aisha child sobbing into his hands as he sat on the ledge of the sidewalk. “What’s wrong?” I asked in a gentle tone. The Aisha looked scared to death. Bruises, cuts, and tear stains were all over. It also seemed that the Aisha couldn’t talk or was really shy, since he couldn’t answer me. I caught a glimpse of the Aisha’s arm. I knelt down beside him and observed it, fixing my glasses on my nose, “M-A-I-L-I-K-U…” I muttered, “Mai-Mailiku…” I attempted to pronounce, “Who’s Mailiku?”
The child shook his head, more tears running down his cheeks.
“Well, I can’t take you home. You’d have a worse time there then on the street.” I said, “But I guess I can let you stay at Headquarters for now.” I stood up and held out my hand for the child. The Aisha nodded and gripped onto my wrist.
After I had taken the Aisha to Headquarters and told him where everything was, I headed for home once again. I pushed through the door who was hanging off the hinge. “Tryxii, where have you been?! The dishes aren’t going to clean themselves!” My father yelled as he sat on the couch in front of an old antenna T.V. My mother was no where around. She was probably out doing her ‘job’ which wasn’t a very pleasant one. I sighed as I walked into the kitchen, looking at the large mess. The floor was dirty; the counters were stacked with dishes as well as the sink. I really wanted a new home. My father would bark commands at me as soon as I walked through the door. I just didn’t have the energy to yell back. I can’t take his constant complaining and thoughts. My mother was always gone. I rarely saw her, and I don’t think I’d want to. My family didn’t support me in anything I did. They didn’t like my organization, they didn’t like me being a vegetarian, they didn’t like the way I dress, they don’t like the way I talk, they just don’t like anything. Yet, I just couldn’t leave. I was only 13 years old. They’ve taught me nothing except for cooking and cleaning and how to get yelled at. Everything that I’ve learnt came from the streets.
I nearly screamed as I sat up quickly from my bed. I felt around on the ground for my glasses. Finding them and slipping them over my eyes, everything became much clearer in the dark, drafty room. The floor boards were old and mossy, same with the walls. My mattress was very thin and just laid on the floor, being covered by a sheet. Another sheet covered over me which was all torn and stained from random dirt and oils. I only owned my mattress, my glasses, and a few dollars I hid under a loose floorboard under my mattress in case I ever needed something badly. The window was wide open since the glass was broken. It was still dark out. I held a hand to my forehead, breathing deeply. “Another dream…” I muttered. I tried hard to remember it. I saw a shadow figure standing in a room full of small cages, helpless neopians being trapped inside. Then I saw a sign that said ‘Haunted Woods’, then an area where the front of the tree was opened like a door. “I can’t do nothing this time.” I muttered once again. I stood up and ran out of my room, rushing down the old stairs that creaked with every step I took. I rushed out of the old house and onto the streets. Looking left and right, I ran towards the Haunted Woods.
I moved quickly but quietly as I made my way around the trees in the Haunted Woods. I tried my best to keep my teeth from chattering from the brisk winds that sent odd chills up my spine. Of course, that didn’t stop me. I was desperate to find out if my nightmares were visions or just what they were called: nightmares.
After keeping my watch on an area where the trees were gray and semi-circled, I felt as if I recognized the area. “This is it…” I muttered, “I’m sure of it.” Hopping down from the tree I was perched on, I made my way to the trunks of the trees. A ran my hoof along them, trying to figure out a passage way or…anything. My hoof left the trees when I tripped over an upright tree root, sending myself falling face first. I mumbled curses as I sat up. I looked to see that one of the tree trunks had opened to reveal a stairwell that went underground. I scrambled to my feet and ran inside, letting the door close behind me.
I walked down what seemed like never ending corridors that were quite cold. I exhaled; being able to see my breath. I cracked open every door I passed to try and see in, but so far every room had shelves stacked with different kinds of potions and other substances. I let out a sigh as I felt ready to give up. Seeing only one more door left, I thought it couldn’t hurt to look. I cracked open the door and peered inside. My eyes widened. I opened the door fully to see exactly what I had seen in my nightmare: Cages with neopians in them that looked unhealthy and ready to die. At the end of the room was a shadow meerca; standing with his arms folded and staring directly at me.
“I saw you coming.” The meerca said; his expression not looking pleased one bit.
“What? How?!” I asked in a demanding tone.
“Your not the only one who has visions.” The meerca said as he made no attempt to change his expression or his cold tone, “I saw you coming from a vision two nights ago, Tryxii.”
Hearing the meerca say my name made a chill of fear run down my spine. How much did he know of me? I had no idea who he was, which bothered me. Hiding my fear, my eyes scanned the ones in the cages. I noticed something similar about them all. Each of them read the name ‘Mailiku’ on they’re arm just like the aisha I had seen earlier. My gaze went back onto the meerca, “Your Mailiku.”
“Took you long enough.” He replied, “Now would you leave? If you don’t go on your free will, then I’ll have to take your free will.”
I immediately shook my head, “No! I won’t! I can’t let all these neopians just stay here with YOU.”
“What’s the harm?” Mailiku said in an innocent tone as he unfolded his arms, “They’re just going to be puppets…nothing more.”
“You’re psychotic.” I said as I shook my head with disgust. I ran towards the meerca in an attempt to tackle him to the ground.
Mailiku held out his right palm towards me. Electricity sparked and charged towards me in a large blast. I was hit directly. I crossed my arms in front of my face as I grinded my teeth together; trying not to let my pain show. Before I even realized it, the pain from the electricity was dying down but I couldn’t move. I was floating above the ground inside a large shield of electricity. I tried to move, but I was instantly shocked.
“Don’t test Mailiku.” Mailiku said in a cold tone that sent another wave of shivers down my spine as his slate eyes glared.
“I don’t want these pets to suffer…” I said quietly, but loud enough for Mailiku to hear. I hung my head, “Please, take me instead of them. Let them free and just…keep me.”
Its not finished yet but um...yeah. ; I kinda ran out of ideas. Just wait for more.
