((Excuse the crappiness. I can't type for beans. I also got lazy near the end :P But enjoy. This is told in Trinatei's point of view, so there will be no thoughts of Xenodae in here.))
Sometimes I felt like a celebrity. I guess you could say I was, in a way. Every time I walked down the street, people would stare, take pictures, ask questions and the lot. Why couldn’t they leave me be? I sat on my lush queen sized canopy bed, light blue sheets covering the bed and lots of pillows along the headboard. Dark wooden well made furniture made up my room. It would be any girls dream to have whatever they desired. It just wasn’t mine. I always watch the maids and servants bring me things, prepare my dinner, design my frilly dresses, and more. I couldn’t even watch T.V without being sat down in a throne and have people fluffing up pillows for me, giving me a foot rest, asking me if the T.V fitted my qualifications and more. I sighed as I stood up and walked over to my full length mirror. My dress was pretty. I know most girls would love to have one. The dress was silk and reached my ankles. It poofed out slightly so it wouldn’t stick to me. Different hues of blue and markings covered the dress. The sleeves were long and felt really good against my red smooth fur. A blue triangle like hat sat atop of my head. A long see-through light blue fabric came out from the top and fell down behind my back until it reached the bottom of my ankles. My orange hair was very wavy and was quite long and well taken care of since I have the most expensive shampoos, conditioners, and hair treatments in the kingdom. My bangs were taken from the right side of my head and pulled over to my right, being kept in place with a clip. A red aisha’s tail came out from under my dress, a set of aisha ears to match it. On my ears were silver earrings. Of course, my parents didn’t approve of that. I had to tell them that all the rich girls were wearing them for my parents to agree. It was sad, really. I have everything, yet I want something different. It was so boring here. I didn’t have any friends, I didn’t go to a normal school, I haven’t been outside and on the streets in months in fear that I may be held for ransom again or that I’ll attract to much attention…Life was horrible.
“Trinatei! Come downstairs, I have a surprise for you!” The voice of my mother called followed by a titter. I sighed and stepped away from my mirror, going out my bedroom door and closing it behind me. When I reached down to the bottom of the red carpeted staircase, my mother and father were standing there along with someone else. A male royal Aisha to be exact. He stood in fine green and blue clothing. Hair was neatly placed under a hat with a large feather tucked in it. “Trinatei, this is Dwyn.” My mother said, a smile on her face as she fanned herself with a fan made from the tail feathers of a faerie lenny. Dwyn took off his hat and bowed to me, “Pleasure to meet you, Lady Trinatei.” He said in a somewhat deep voice. I looked at him, then at my parents with an odd expression, “What’s going on?” I asked in a worried tone of voice. “You know your Mother and I are getting fairly old.” My father started, “So you are going to have to take the throne someday soon. You can’t just take the throne with no king by your side. That’s why Dwyn here is a very suitable man to wed you.” Dwyn stood up straight and returned his hat on top of his head, a smirk on his face. My eyes widened as my breathing got heavier. I was to be married? I wasn’t even an adult yet! And I had no idea who this Aisha was. I have never seen him before. “I can see that you’re taken away?” My mother said. No. I thought. “I…I need to be alone right now.” I said as I put a hand to my forehead. “But why, deary?” My mother asked yet again. “I feel…flushed.” I said, thinking of the first excuse my mother would take. Both of my parents gasped as the motioned for some maids to accompany me to my room. Maids gripped onto my arms as they nearly dragged me up the stairs and put me into bed, throwing the covers over me. After the maids had calmed down from being in a rush from bringing me soup, more pillows, and blankets, they left my room, shutting the door behind them. “Oh dear lord!” I nearly yelled as I threw the nearly millions of covers on me. I think I would have died from the heat. I removed the cap from my head and placed it on my bedside table. I walked over to my glass doors that led to the marble stone balcony. See through light blue drapes covered the glass. I turned the brass handles on the doors and opened them, letting a fresh breeze flow into the room. Night was falling quite quickly. Shades of red, orange, and purple rested on the bottom of the sky, the top of the sky being a deep blue with twinkling golden stars. I leaned on the marble bars of the balcony as she looked over the Kingdom. By just a few words, I could do make the Kingdom do whatever I desire. The thought was…odd. I blinked as I noticed something walking on the sidewalk almost below my balcony. I looked over to see an anthro shadow cybunny. It was even odder to see someone walking near my house. No one came by anymore except for the paparazzi. Everyone else naturally thought I was too stuck-up to meet them. The cybunny’s attire was unusual for the area I lived in. He just had olive baggy shorts and a large olive t-shirt with the words ‘Gun It’ on it. Strapped around his ankles were gun holders, each one holding a gun. Brown hair with a bit of pink was tied into a long braid that reached the back of his ankles, bangs hanging in a messy fashion over his aqua eyes. Countless silver piercings covered his ears in different places. I didn’t know anyone and it was too rare to see someone come by, so I took my chances, “Hello!” I called, waving down to him with a smile. The cybunny nearly jumped out of his fur, being startled by my sudden call. He stopped walking and looked up at me with surprise, “Whoa! Don’t scare me like that!” He called up, a smile on his face. It felt even weirder now. I hadn’t talked to anyone besides her family, the maids, and Dwyn lately. Dwyn. My eyes seemed to widen a bit and my smile faded. I shook my head and looked back down at the cybunny, “Hey, you up for a task?” I asked. The cybunny shrugged his shoulders, “Not doing anything else.” “Could you show me around the Kingdom?” I asked, praying that he would say yes. The cybunny nodded, “Erm…sure.” “Great!” I said, a smile on my face, “I’ll be down in a minute!” I ran back inside, coming back out onto the balcony like a different person. I had no frilly dress, no cap, and my hair wasn’t all let down. Navy blue track pants, an overly large light blue t-shirt, and tied up hair was all I had. I walked over to the side of my balcony and lifted myself up onto the bar. I gripped onto the drain that ran from the gutters onto the top of the house and went to the bottom. I slowly climbed down the drain pipe, jumping off a few feet before I reached the bottom. I ran up to the cybunny and gripped his paw, “Come on!” I said as I ran, dragging him along. I couldn’t stand outside my house for too long or else someone would surely see me. And I didn’t want that.
I soon stopped as my large home was out of site. I panted heavily, “Whew…” The cybunny blinked, “Why did you run from there?” He asked. “My parents…” I muttered, “They wouldn’t like to see me outside, especially looking like this!” I said, returning to my normal tone of voice as I tugged gently on my t-shirt. “Odd…” the cybunny muttered. “Oh! I forgot to tell you my name!” He said cheerfully, “M’name is Xenodae! What’s yours?” “I’m Trinatei.” I said simply. Xenodae’s eyes widened. He dropped to the ground in a bow, “Ahhhh! I’m so sorry! I’ll return you home right away!” I blinked as I tapped Xenodae’s shoulder, “No, please don’t!” I pleaded, “Now get up.” Xenodae looked up at me and nodded, standing up and dusting himself off. “Now, please, I’ll PAY you just to not take me back home!” I pleaded, clasping my hands together in front of me. Xenodae blinked a confused look on his face, “Alright…” I smiled brightly, “Thank you so much!” I said cheerfully.
“Anyways…where are we headed?” I asked after a few minutes of walking. I noticed the houses were getting smaller, the pavement was getting more cracked, and everything just looked less…classy. “Towards my home.” Xenodae said, stuffing his paws in his pockets, “You wanted me to show you around. I don’t think you’ve ever seen anything like my home before.” I just nodded, a faint smile on my face. No one seemed to recognize me with a big frilly dress.
“Here we are.” Xenodae said. He pointed to a shaggy shingled house which looked like it had been through hurricanes repeatedly. The area had also changed. There were no nice houses. All of the houses were either piles of rubble or just like Xenodae’s. The peoples clothing were mostly tattered or unwashed. Barely any living plants were around except for a small blade of bright green grass at which some younger children were examining like if they found a cool toy. “Welcome.” Xenodae said, “Not something you’ve ever seen before, is it?” I shook my head as I just stared blankly at the area, “No…never. How can you live like this?” Xenodae shrugged his shoulders, “I’ve got my health, protection, friends that would take a bullet for me…people are thankful for what they have down here. We help each other out.” I nodded. It kind of saddened me to see an area like this. I don’t know why…and I thought I had it bad at my home. But, I also thought about what Xenodae had said. People were thankful for all of this. They had friends that weren’t based on your blood or money. I looked up at the sky as I thought. It was completely dark out, but I couldn’t see the stars like I could at my home. “Where are the stars?” I asked as I stared up at the sky. Xenodae sighed, “The industries are always built down here, so the pollution makes it so we can’t see the stars.” “Oh…” I muttered. I sighed as I looked at my feet, “I should be heading home now. My parents might have already sent the police out looking for me.” Xenodae nodded, “Alrighty then. I’ll...see you another time?” I nodded with a smile, “Yeah, sure. Meet me tomorrow by my balcony.” I began to walk off, waving back at the cybunny.
It had been a few days, now. Xenodae had shown me more of his home area and told me about how things worked. It was lots of fun down there. Everyone was so nice even though they had no idea who I was. I laid back on my bed, just thinking as I stared up at the top of my canopy. I was dressed in the same pants and tee from the first day I had met Xenodae. The sound of something hitting against glass broke my train of thought. I stood up and opened my balcony doors to see Xenodae down they’re, throwing pebbles at my balcony doors. “Come on!” He shouted up. I nodded as gripped onto the drain pipe. I had gotten much better at climbing up and down it now. It was a breeze now. I looked at Xenodae, noticing there was no smile on his face like all the other times, “Whats wrong?” Xenodae shook his head, “Nothing. There is one more thing that you haven’t seen yet.” I nodded, putting a smile on my face, “Alrighty then. Lets go!”
As soon as we arrived at the destination, I was in awe. We stopped at a beach. The horizon made the water glow and sparkle. The tide came upon to the sand, slashing against my feet. “Wow…” I muttered as I stared out at the sky. “Yeah…” Xenodae said. He didn’t sound fine at all. He sounded…sad. “Xenodae, is something wrong?” I asked him again, taking my gaze away from the sunset as I looked at him. Xenodae sighed. He just couldn’t answer me. “About time, Xenodae.” A deep voice said from behind me. I turned around quickly as my heart raced. They’re stood a anthro shadow meerca. His clothes were made up of a sweater with the sleeves rolled up, baggy pants that were held up by a spiked belt. A silver chain hung around his neck with a thin cross. Two scars marked the right side of his cheek. His hair went to mid-back and was a gray colour. Everything about him was gray, even his eyes. Xenodae sighed, hanging his head and not seeming to have a reply. “Whats the matter with you, now?” The meerca questioned. Xenodae shook his head, “Nothing, Mailiku.” He muttered, not looking up at the meerca. Mailiku shook his head, “Whatever.” His glance shifted towards me, “So your Trinatei? Don’t look very royal.” I blinked. How did he know my name? Did Xenodae tell him? “H-how do you know my name?” I asked, my heart racing a mile a minute with fear. “Xenodae there told me.” Mailiku said, an evil smirk on his face, “Now give me your wrist.” Even before I could retaliate to that, Mailiku had grabbed my wrist and held a knife above it. I let out a scream of fear, shutting my eyes tightly in fear that the knife would slice through any second. Instead of feeling pain, I heard a shot. A gunshot. I opened my eyes slowly to see the knife knocked out of Mailiku’s hand. Mailiku clutched his hand, “YOU BASTARD!” He yelled towards Xenodae. I looked over at Xenodae, seeing him hold up a gun in his right hand. “I…I just can’t let you do it.” Xenodae said, his aqua eyes no longer looking cheerful, “I just can’t let you kill her!” Mailiku growled as he shook the hand that had been shot, shifting an angry glance at Xenodae, “Why? What would be left for her?” Mailiku questioned, “I’ve already finished off her parents and that one boy, Dwyn.” I felt now that I was going to throw up. Did he really kill my parents and husband-to-be? That sick feeling started turning into sorrow until it finally reached anger, “You…” I muttered as I looked at the ground, fists clenched. I turned my head up to look at him, tears starting to spill out of my eyes, “YOU KILLED MY FAMILY!” Mailiku nodded, “What of it?” In his good hand was a long staff. He raised it to make the orb parallel to my skull, “And your next.” “NO!” Xenodae yelled. He pulled out his other guns and shot at Mailiku’s wrist. Luckily, one of the bullets managed to hit his wrist. “DAMN IT!” Mailiku yelled out in pain. He growled, “Your all in for it now!” Getting tired from blood loss, Mailiku raised his staff and sent a large blast towards the water. The water shot up in the air upwards, making a huge tidal wave. One that could swipe you off the sand and a far distance into sea. “RUN!” Xenodae yelled as he grabbed my wrist and started running. I panted and panted as I ran, trying to outrun the tidal wave. Mailiku wasn’t following us, which was the good thing.
We finally managed to outrun the tidal wave, the back of my pant legs soaked. We panted and sat on the ground as we weren’t even on the beach anymore. As soon as I caught my breath, I shot a glare towards Xenodae, “What did you tell him?” I said in a cruel tone. Xenodae sighed as he looked at the ground, “I…I didn’t want to. Mailiku threatened to destroy my home and everyone who lived there if I didn’t deliver you to him. I just couldn’t let my home down…but now that I actually know you, I couldn’t just let him kill you let alone cut your wrist.” Xenodae shook his head, “I’m so sorry…”. He stood up quickly, putting a hand over his heart as he stood like a shoulder, “I, Xenodae, promise from this day on that I shall not let anyone get they’re paws or claws on you!” I wiped a tear from my eye. A faint smile appeared on my face, “Do you actually mean that or are you just plan on letting someone else take a chance at killing me?” Xenodae shook his head, “No! I won’t! I promise.” He said, “I haven’t been more sure of anything in my life. I’ll become your bodyguard.” He said, “Unless you refuse or never wanna see me again…”. I shook my head, a smile appearing on my face, “No. Please, be my bodyguard.” Xenodae nodded with a smile. I sighed as I looked up at the sky which was now dark, “But the only problem is now that neither you nor I have a home.” I exhaled deeply and breathed in, “I wish that someone…ANYONE…could just take us to a safe place.” “I could arrange that.” Said a gentle voice. I looked over to see an angel zafara leaning against a tree, arms folded, “I saw what happened and I’m really sorry. I can only take you to a possible home.” I nodded quickly, “Oh please, just take us anywhere away from here!” The angel zafara nodded. He closed his cerulean blue eyes and held out his hands. All of a sudden I felt light headed…then sleepy.
I woke up the next morning by the sounds of whispers. I sat up weakly to find myself in a bed. But the bed…it wasn’t my own. The room wasn’t mine, either. “Where am I?” I asked myself. A knock on the door made me jump. A figure stepped into the room and slowly approached me. I rubbed my eyes and then soon figured out it was Xenodae. “Xenodae!” I shouted, “You’re alive!” Xenodae nodded with a smile, “Yeah. That angel brought us to this home.” “Who was he?” I asked with curiosity. “I asked the striped gelert downstairs and she said his name was Hacaeus.” Xenodae replied, “She also said that he was a Guardian Angel.” I tilted my head to the side, “Who is the striped gelert?” Xenodae shrugged, “I don’t know. Come downstairs, there’s a whole lot of neos down there.” I nodded and hopped out of the bed, following Xenodae down the stairs.
“Glad to see you’re up!” The striped gelert said in a cheery tone when I got downstairs, “Hacaeus told me what had happened. I’m really sorry.” The striped gelert snapped her fingers, “Where are my manners today? I’m Errol. But please, call me Nori.” I nodded, “Nice to meet you Nori. Could you please tell me where the local Inn is?” Nori shook her head, “No, no, no! You don’t need to be at no Inn! You can stay here for as long as you’d like.” “Nori offered a chance to live here.” Xenodae said with a smile, “But where ever you go, I’ll follow.” I nodded, “I would love to stay here. I have no where else.” Nori nodded with a smile, “That’s great! Welcome to the family!” I smiled. Everyone was so nice and quiet talkative, except for a select few. A desert zafara who said her name was Akeminess already told me about the ones who didn’t talk.
So now, I sit here writing this down. I don’t know where I will end up putting this, but maybe someday it can be shared…someday…
