The moon glowed brightly, it's full circle casting a milky glow down upon the land. Evening clouds were sparcely gathered around the pearl in the sky. They formed like a veil, gathering around the shining sphere.
The howling of night creatures echoed through the dim streets of the desert. An unseen feeling of panic was throughout the city. A few fading lights shone from the curtained windows of select houses. Silhouettes darted back and forth behind the flickering curtains, pacing in worry.
Nothing quite like this had happened in the city for years. Not since that kyrii girl had been accidently killed... but this was even more frightening than that.
The thin clouds twisted in the sky, parting to reveal the full moon in all it's shining glory. Bright bands of thousands upon thousands of stars soon came into sight. The sky was glowing with sparkles; the town's lack of lighting was letting more stars show than they'd seen for many years. The new source of light pounded down on the town, pouring erie, faded lights into the already unnerving night streets.
Very few citizens were outside, and those that were happened to be trying to return home as quickly as possible. Squads of guards made their way through the city, shouting out for people to stay in their homes.
"That bastard thief has taken one step too far." A growling elephante near the front of the largest group spoke out.
"Sir, are you sure it was him? This doesn't seem like his style at all..." A skieth asked, stepping foreward slightly.
"Is there anyone else you can think of who would possibly do this?" The elephante cast an intimidating glare toward the younger skieth guard.
"... No... sir." The skieth looked away.
"Then we'll split up and find him. Be careful; it looks like he's playing a different game this time."

The ebony-furred cybunny sighed deeply, pulling a sheet over the still body of a brutally beaten aisha. She'd never seen anything like this before...
"Did any of them survive?"
The cybunny felt her fur raise. "What do you think?" She growled, turning toward the blue kyrii behind her.
Chase jumped, startled by the look in her eyes. He'd never seen Mathilda this angry before. "Mathilda-"
"What... in Neopia... happened... to these people?"
The kyrii took half a step back, putting out a glare of his own. "You can't possible think I had anything to do with this."
The cybunny took a deep breath, turning away from the theif behind her. After a moment she responded in a more controlled tone. "No."
Chase shook his head, looking over to the dead beings. "I'd never kill anyone..." after a moment of uneasy silence passed, Chase spoke once again. "How... how many..."
"Six." The 'bunny responded, her eyes glazing over slightly. "... Do you suppose whoever did this is still in the city? Or... desert, even?"
"I'd bet they are. I think they're looking for something." Chase responded, looking over his shoulder toward the clinic's door.
