Note: This past is told by a narrator. You'll learn things about different characters in here, but its based on Zhauy. Enjoy.
Chapter One: Too Young To Notice
“Do we have to leave them here?” A female voice sobbed in a whisper. The female was covered with a cloak, hair and ears hidden inside the cloak and knees on the ground. The cloaked one in front of her nodded, “I’m afraid so. If we don’t, they will be killed for sure.” He said. The female wiped a tear from her eye before letting it hit the ground, “I…I guess…” The male one nodded and put down a basket with a blanket overtop on the ground behind a large thick-trunk willow tree. The two nodded and stood, soon running off into the mist of the Haunted Woods.
“Hey…!” A voice said in a loud whisper, not sure if wanting to be heard or not but yet wasn’t by the two running figures. A child stepped out from near the tree, a shadow meerca child. His hair was somewhat long and gray, matching his slate eyes. His whole attire seemed to be formed of baggy gray clothing. The child raised an eyebrow as he knelt down next to the basket. He hesitated, and then slowly lifted the blanket. His eyes widened, “What the…?” Two small infants lie in the basket, gelert infants. One was green while the other was blue. Both were asleep and unaware of what was happening. “That must’ve been they’re parents…” the meerca mumbled. His head looked forward quickly as he heard two gun shots. His eyes widened a little, “That’s what they must’ve meant…” He mumbled once again. He sighed as he put the blanket over the two, “Hopefully I can promise you a new home…hopefully.” He picked up the basket and started running in the opposite direction to a place unknown by most.
“But Mom!” The Meerca’s voice yelled as he stood in a brick walled room with lots of shelves filled with endless rows of jars, the objects in them unknown, “They’re only infants! They’re too young be experimented on!” “Mailiku, I still cannot believe I gave birth to you!” the Meerca’s mother shouted. With the same type of hair, a skirt that reached her knees, a three-quarter shirt, and a necklace with a slim cross at the end, it was very obvious that they were indeed related. “You must’ve obtained your personality from your father, since you never got it from me!” She yelled, “We’re going to wait until they’re older and don’t you think about arguing with me about this!” She pointed a finger towards the doorway, “Now get to bed! I don’t want to hear your endless complaints!” The child meerca, whose name was Mailiku, wanted to say something more. He sighed as he turned out the doorway, footsteps echoing down the hall from the cement ground. His mother turned from the doorway and opened a cabinet. Her hand tried to feel around for something. Moments later, she pulled out a pocket knife. An evil smirk went onto her face as her glance shifted towards the doorway, “I hope you don’t plan on seeing the sunrise, dear Mailiku.”
Chapter Two: Morning Scars.
The hands on the grandfather clock pointed towards 3am, the darkest hour. Mailiku laid under his covers, head resting in a pillow. He almost looked like he was tense. Beads of sweat went down his face. He quickly sat up like if he had hit the ground in a nightmare, “Mother…” He said quieter than a whisper, “She’s coming…”. Mailiku quickly laid back down and closed his eyes, making it seem like he was asleep. And just as he said, a shadow meerca whom was his mother entered the room, the same knife as earlier close to her side. Mailiku’s mothers towered over Mailiku too see his eyes, asleep. She thought. She gripped the knife tighter as she raised it a foot above his heart. “TAKE THIS!” Mailiku quickly sat up, his hands outstretched towards his mother as a blast was sent towards her. His mother, not expecting the attack, got hit directly. Her back slammed against the wall on the other side of the room. She regained her posture as she growled, “Dear Mailiku couldn’t sleep?” She mocked, “I can help you there. I helped your father, didn’t I?” Mailiku growled as he stood on his bed, “I will still never forgive you for killing Father! Just because his heart was pure doesn’t mean you had to shove a blade through it!” His mother seemed to laugh under her breath, “Oh well. Too late now. I never liked being Mrs. Saudia Zakiah anyways.” Saudia, Mailiku’s mother, lunged at Mailiku with the knife in front of her. She tackled Mailiku down and attempted to stab him directly in his forehead. She thrusted the knife downwards, but missed from Mailiku’s squirming and only managed to make a deep gash in Mailiku’s right cheek. Mailiku winced in pain as he kept squirming. He shouted out in pain as his mother missed yet again, making another deep gash lower on his cheek than the first. Mailiku managed to be able to move his legs and kicked his mother away. He stood up weakly, blood dripping heavily from his cheek. Saudia still had that evil smirk on her face, “Mailiku, you would be so useful if you weren’t so like your father.” Saudia charged towards Mailiku once more with surprising speed and pinned him against the wall, her hand gripping onto Mailiku’s shirt collar and raising him off the ground, her knife only an inch away from his forehead. Sweat drops slowly ran down Mailiku’s face as he eyed the knife. “AHHHH!” He shouted as he looked in the opposite direction, trying to make his mother look. It worked, too. Saudia looked in the direction Mailiku had, hand still gripping onto his collar. Mailiku took the opportunity and was able to snatch his mother’s knife away from her. Mailiku kicked his mother, sending her near the wall on the other side of the room. He this time pinned her quickly to the wall, making her head hit against a self and knock over a jar and shoved the knife right throw Saudia’s heart. Her eyes widened and pupils became small. Mailiku let go of his mother and dropped the knife. He stared blankly at her, not believing what he had just done. A tear streamed down his face, “You…deserved this.” He said aloud. He looked at his deceased mother and ripped of her necklace. He stared blankly at it as it rested in his palm. What was he to do now? He was only a child and 2 infants were in the other room unaware of the world around them. Mailiku looked at his mother. Blood poured heavily from her. The spilled liquid from the jar started getting closer to his mother’s blood until they collided. Smoke rose quickly to the roof. All the smoke stayed together in a cloud as it rose off of Saudia, who was now gone. The smoke: It craved blood. It smelt Mailiku’s wounds and charged at him, making the smoke go through his wounds and stay inside of him. Mailiku’s eyes widened as his body fell to the ground. It was like he just shut down, except he was still alive. Everything inside of him as being re-created. His powers, his intelligence, what he craved, and his personality. He blinked a few times as he stood and rubbed his head. His expression seemed to look less innocent, almost like his mother’s expression. The smoke had taken his mother’s blood and put it inside of him. He was now almost like her, but was able to remember what he had done. “The gelerts…” He muttered as he looked towards the doorway, “Shall never be the same again.”
Chapter 3: Saudia’s Work
8 Years Later
“Get back to work!” Mailiku’s voice shouted. He was older, taller, and more grown up now. He was 19 years old and hasn’t changed much since his mother’s blood had been put into him. The only thing different about his attire now was that his sleeves were rolled up and he wore his mother’s necklace. “This place doesn’t clean itself!” Mailiku turned around quickly, storming out of the room. The green and blue gelert were the ones he was yelling at, whom he named Zhauy and Zibler. Zhauy, the green gelert, threw her wash cloth to the floor. She folded her arms, “I HATE Mailiku!” The green gelert had more features now since she was 10 years old. Her hair was somewhat short and silver. Her eyes were blood red and obviously filled with hatred. Tattered gray clothing covered her as her tail flicked angrily back and forth. “Zhauy, keep your voice down or he may come back!” Zibler said in a loud whisper as he gripped the mob handle nervously, “I don’t like getting beaten and I don’t think you do, either!” The blue gelert looked only a bit like his sister. He was blue and was only 9 years old. Black hair spiked a bit upwards from his head and purple eyes seemed to be filled with sadness and pain. He also wore tattered gray clothing. “Well, we’re getting out of here soon. I don’t know how, but we will!” Zhauy shouted as she punched and kicked the air, “I’ve been training every chance I could get, you know.” “Yeah, but…but…” Zibler muttered. He gasped as Mailiku had stompped back into the room. Mailiku growled, looking towards Zhauy, “You.” He started, “You have been causing me nothing but trouble from the start and now your not doing your work?!” He roughly grabbed Zhauy by the back of her shirt and dragged her out of the room, “I have something planed for you.”
“LEMME GO!” Zhauy yelled as she was being dragged down the hall, kicking and struggling. Mailiku threw Zhauy to the ground once they were outside. Two shadowed figures stood, they’re faces being covered with a hood, “This her?” Mailiku nodded, “I need her gone.” Zhauy looked about at the three nerviously as she stood. Mailiku shifted his glance to Zhauy and raised his palm, “Time for your exsistance to end here.” A powerful blast of black light was sent towards Zhauy. Her back and head hit against a large rock, knocking her unconscious. “Heh…” The first shadowed figure said as he lifted the unconscious Zhauy and put her into a bag, zipping it up, “This will be an easy task.” The two figures took the bag and ran off, disappearing into the Haunted Woods fog.
Chapter 4: Harder Than It Seems.
The two shadowed figures have left the haunted woods. They ran in the rain in the middle of the night and onto a bridge. No cars were driving by, which was good for the two figures. They looked off of the bridge, the fall being 200 feet into chilling water. “Off you go…” The two muttered as they tossed the bag containing Zhauy off the bridge. With that, they ran off in the direction they came from, leaving Zhauy to drown as the bag made a large splash when it hit the water.
“What the?!” A striped gelert said in surprise as she was sitting on the other side of a large boulder, the two that were on the bridge not being able to see her. The stripped gelert, whom was 16 years and dressed from head to toe with army print clothing, looked towards the spot with her red and purple eyes where the water rippled from the bag. She brushed her brown hair from her face as she dived into the water. The water, being very cold, sent chills up her spine. She opened her eyes under the water, using ‘night vision’ she had earned from a bottled faerie to see. She swam after the sinking bag. Her paws clutched onto the strap as she rose to the surface, lungs begging for air. She took a deep breath as she reached the surface. She kicked her feet and swam over to the place she was sitting, pulling the bag up. “What’s in here?” She asked herself. Her fingers gripped the zipper as she took in a deep breath and opened the bag. Her eyes widened as she saw the body of the 10 year old green gelert, Zhauy. “A little girl!” She shouted. She looked from side to side, heart racing. Its not everyday you come across a little girl in a bag. She lifted the unconscious Zhauy out of the bag and put her over her shoulder and started running home.
The striped gelert kicked open her door and ran up the flights of stairs until she reached one of the many guest bedrooms. She laid Zhauy down under the covers. As soon as the warm covers touched the green gelert’s skin, she sprung up quickly, “I HATE YOU!” The sudden shouting and awakening of the gelert made the striped gelert jump back against the wall, putting her hand over her heart as if she were trying to keep it from jumping out of her. The green gelert looked around quickly, “…Where am I?!” She shouted. She looked over at the striped gelert, her eyes glaring, “And who are you?! If you were sent by that Mailiku I’ll show you not to mess with Zhauy!” The striped gelert shook her head quickly, “No, I wasn’t sent by ‘Mailiku’…whoever the dude is.” She raised an eyebrow, “And who is Zhauy?” The green gelert stopped glaring and just starred, “I’m Zhauy.” She replied. The striped gelert let her hand fall to her side as she stepped closer, “Oh…I’m Errol Noriko Thanos. I found you in a bag in the water…what happened?” “…Nothing you have to be concerned about.” Zhauy said. A thought had sprung into her mind, “Was there a blue gelert with me?” Errol shook her head, “No, why?” Zhauy went wide-eyed as she hopped up from the bed, “Then I’ve got to go!” Errol stood in front of the doorway, “No way! I can’t let you go off on your own; it’s obvious someone is out there to get you!” “I cannot stand here while I’m safe and my brother isn’t!” Zhauy yelled. She ran over to the window and bent her elbow back, punching the window and shattering it. Zhauy hopped out of the window and landed on the front of Errol’s black jeep. She hopped off and started running in the direction she believed Mailiku’s layer would be located. “HEY!” Errol shouted. She ran down the stairs and out the door, but already saw that Zhauy was gone. “DAMN IT!” She yelled. She pulled out her car keys and hopped inside the jeep, sliding the keys roughly in the ignition and starting up the car. She backed up and sped down the road in Zhauy’s direction.
Chapter 5: Revenge Time.
“What have you done to my sister?!” Zibler’s voice yelled from inside the room. Mailiku snorted as he folded his arms, standing much taller than Zibler, “She was being a problem and was dealt with.” “You…you killed her, didn’t you?!” Zibler yelled. He attempted to attack Mailiku, but Mailiku swatted him away like if it was nothing, “Don’t make me kill you, too.” “HURT MY BROTHER AND DIE!” Mailiku and Zibler turned they’re heads to the entrance way where Zhauy stood, soaked from head to toe and panting heavily. “WHAT?!” Mailiku yelled enraged, “Those fools were ordered to kill you!” “It’s not easy to get rid of me, not when I’ve seen the outside world. I plan on going back and riding the world of you!” Zhauy shouted. Zibler ran up behind his sister, speechless and scared. Mailiku laughed as a twisted smile appeared on his face, “You could try, but you shall not succeed.” Mailiku raised his palm in front of him, sending a beam of fire towards Zhauy. Zhauy pushed Zibler out from behind her and got hit by the fire herself, slamming into the wall. Luckily from all the rain and the fall in the water, the fire was instantly put out. Zhauy stood quickly, preparing herself for anymore of that. Mailiku growled as he sent blasts of dark light towards Zhauy. Zhauy ran around the room, jumping, ducking, and dodging all that she could while being hit by some. Because of all of this, she was growing tired. Zibler clasped his hands together, “Careful Zhauy!” Zhauy looked around the room. She knew if she couldn’t think of something fast, she wouldn’t be able to get her brother away from Mailiku’s torture. Zhauy finally saw something useful: A support beam. Zhauy dodged one of Mailiku’s blasts and jumped in front of the support beam. Mailiku raised his hand once more. A dark ball started to form and swirl, getting bigger and bigger until it turned into a large blast. Zibler yelled as he covered his eyes. Zhauy fell to the floor, evading the blast. The blast did hit something, though. The support beam. It crumbled into pieces and went all over the floor. The roof started to shake and crack as pieces started falling. “RUN!” Zhauy yelled. She tightly grabbed her brother’s wrist and ran down the halls. The roof started breaking behind them as they ran. “We won’t make it out in time!” Zibler yelled as they ran. The door came into view, although it was too far to survive. Zhauy grabbed the back of Zibler’s shirt and tossed him out the doorway, leaving the roof to collapse on Zhauy.
Chapter 5: It Won’t End So Easily.
“Zhauy? ZHAAAAAAAAUY!” Called out Errol’s voice through a rolled down window of her jeep as she slowly drove through the haunted woods. Sounds of sobbing and crying made her completely stop the jeep and hop out, slamming the door behind her. She walked around a bit with her hands stuffed in her pockets, looking behind trees and random objects until she came across a blue gelert rubbing tears from his eyes, his knees on the wet ground. In front of him were remains of a crushed layer. “Hey…” Errol said quietly as she walked up behind him, “What’s wrong?” The blue gelert, Zibler, jumped from being startled from Errol’s sudden appearance. He sniffled, “M-my sister…” He said through sniffles and tears. He looked back at the giant pile of rubble, “She got crushed!” Errol seemed to wince from hearing the word ‘crushed’. She knelt down beside the blue gelert and hugged him, “It’ll be alright…” She muttered. Errol’s eyes widened a bit as she backed from the gelert and looked at his fur, noticing it was blue. The girl she had rescued earlier asked about a blue gelert. “What was your sister’s name?” She asked with deep curiosity. “Z-Zhauy.” Zibler stuttered, barely being able to say his sister’s name. “Zhauy?” Errol seemed to question. She only knew one Zhauy. It HAD to be the one she was thinking of. “Don’t worry; we’ll get your sister out.” Errol said as she patted Zibler’s back. Zibler sniffled, “How? We can’t lift all that. And even if we could, they’re wouldn’t be enough time. She’d suffocate.” Errol shook her head, “Don’t worry.” Errol stared at the pile of ruble. She outstretched her arm in front of her, her palm opened and facing the pile. A light blue glow surrounded the stripped gelert’s paw, which soon went into the pile. Every piece of the collapsed layer floated. In the middle of it all was a small green gelert who was scratched up, bleeding, and unconscious.
“You’re awake!” Cried Zibler’s voice, a large smile across the blue gelert’s face. Zhauy blinked her red eyes a few times, trying to get her vision controlled. Sitting up slowly with a groan, she noticed she was no longer in the Haunted Woods. Neither of them were. They were both in a semi-empty bedroom, the window ajar with a breeze flowing in that made the silky light blue drapes sway. “Zibler…where are we?” Zhauy asked in a weak tone, not being able to talk very loudly. “That stripped gelert brought us here. I think it’s her home.” Zibler answered as he sat on the corner of the bed, his feet dangling over the side. Zhauy blinked. She had never seen a home like this before. She was too used to stone walls, cements floors, candle flame for light, and a never ending draft even when it was hot outside. Pushing the light covers off of her, she noticed many bandages around her arms, torso, and legs all of which had dried blood on them, “How long was I out?” “It would have been two weeks tomorrow. Come downstairs if you have enough strength. I’m sure Nori will be happy to see that you’re alright.” Zibler said, hopping off of the bed and landing onto the soft carpet. “Nori?” Zhauy questioned, standing up and trying to maintain her balance. “That’s what the stripped gelert said that we should call her.” Zibler said. He took Zhauy’s right arm and swung it over his shoulders to help her walk, “And thanks a lot Zhauy. I thought you hated having me as a brother.” Zhauy shook her head, “Zibler, your all I have. We only have each other. I can’t let you be alone. I may hate you at times, but I know we’ll have to get passed that if we want to survive. Besides…we’re family. I’ll defend you all I can. When you’re able to battle, then we’ll fight side by side.” Zibler nodded, purple eyes seeming to be full of relief and joy, “Thank you, Zhauy.”
Chapter 6: Six years have gone so fast…
“Would you all just SHUT UP?!” Yelled a mezzo-alto voice up from a flight of stairs. The loud chatter and screaming form down the flight of stairs seemed to stop immediately from the sound of this voice. Up the flight of stairs was a 16 year old green gelert. It was Zhauy. Six years have passed and it changed her appearance a lot. She already looked like she could pass for an adult. Her strength and intellect must have doubled and it seemed she was able to over power others easily just by the sound of her voice. Black baggy clothing covered her body. Her silver hair looked more healthy now, the same with her eyes and fur. Zhauy retreated to her dull coloured room, slamming the door behind her.
“I thought you were going to stand up to her, Zibler!” The voice of a 15 year old female island zafara said. Black and blue wavy hair ran down her back, a few strands of hair going over purple-blue eyes. “I…I don’t know how…” Said the blue gelert, rubbing the back of his head nervously. The gelert couldn’t be any older than 15 himself. Purple eyes seemed to shine with caution and curiosity and black hair perked in different directions in a neat way. The blue gelert, Zibler, sighed, “I don’t know what’s wrong with her, anyways…”
Night seemed to fall quickly. As the sun almost disappeared, Zhauy climbed out her window and onto the roof that was under it. Sitting down on the shingles, she bent her knees and rested her arms on them, looking out at the sky. The gelert’s gaze was broken when a folded note floated down from the sky and onto her lap. Picking up the note with curiosity, she unfolded it twice, seeing fresh black ink on the paper:
I could tell you everything you need to know of how you came to be…
Your interested now, aren’t you?
Good. Come to the Haunted Woods as soon as you see the first star in the sky.
Come alone.
Flipping the paper over and re-reading it a few times, Zhauy couldn’t find a name printed anywhere, “This person…what do they know?” She asked herself. Going alone didn’t seem to be a problem to her. It was rare that she could go alone to anywhere. Folding the paper back up and stuffing it in her pocket, she stared up at the sky and waited for the first star of the night.
